Botcherby FC Under 18's 2002/2003

Under 18's Lift Consolation Trophy
Sunday 27th April 2003 saw the Botcherby FC under 18 football team lift the Consolation trophy at Brunton Park.

In a hastily re-arranged 3 way league fixture, Botcherby Drew their first match against Etterby FC 0-0 and then Etterby beat Harraby Catholic 1-0.
This meant that for Botcherby to win the cup they needed to beat the favoured Harraby Catholic in their final game.

In a tense thriller of a match Robert Edmondson lobbed the Harraby keeper with a goal that Thierry Henry would have been proud of to give Botcherby the lead, and then 2 minutes later a fine goal from Leighton Ullyart gave hope to a Botcherby victory. Almost into the final moments of the match and a consolation goal for Harraby managed to beat keeper Brian Beattie but it was to no avail and Botcherby ran out worthy winners.

Manager Ian Mathers said later "I was well proud of all my lads and saw our training pay off with this result and when you consider that it is our only victory this season we saved our best till last".

Under 18 Presentation Night 3/6/2003
On Tuesday 3rd June 2003, the Botcherby lads under 18`s held a small presentation to honour certain players.........
The players player of the season went rightly deserved to Ashley Mahoney who had encouraged all the players to stick with the team throughout the season and even when the chips were down he was always the one to bring them back to the fold, never losing faith. Ashley collected his players player trophy and in the opinion of everyone present he was the only real choice for this award.
The top scorer went to Bobby Edmundson aka `Rob` who although injury prevented him from attending training as much as he would have liked, he was the man who scored the most goals ....
see him and ask him how many he actually scored!!!
The managers player of the season went to Clarkie and well deserved too.......
Most improved player went to Luke who when the manager took over was bringing his Girlfriend at the time down to keep his balls warm cos he never got a game despite being top substitute. Well done Luke.....
